Flashback: The Quest for Identity is a game developed by Delphine Software International in 1992.
The player takes control of Conrad B. Hart, a man who has lost his memory.
After escaping from the hostile aliens, Conrad finds himself on an unknown planet in the jungle, and from that moment begins his search for survival and his lost identity.
Flashback: The Quest for Identity incorporates elements of platforming, shooting and problem-solving. The game can be found as a “cinematic platformer” (also known as the Prince of Persia-style), following a design philosophy that was manifested in the previous work of Delphine Software, Another World.
Compared to that game, Flashback focuses on the platform and the exploration of great levels.
While much of the gameplay is dedicated to running, jumping and shooting enemies, there is also a considerable element of exploration in the game, plus a little puzzle to solve.
The player guides Conrad through the platform structures, performing various moves. You can jump, run, run longer, run, climb, hang on ledges and collect objects on the ground.
To defend yourself, Conrad can shoot your enemies with the gun and also use various objects (such as stones) to damage them or distract them.
The gun has unlimited ammo.
Most of the environments in the game are hostile, but there are some places that are lacking in interest. Usually, they have information and the player can compete in adventurous style within these areas.
